With the spring cleaning season underway, local carpet cleaners Candid Carpet came to us for a website refresher. Like many of our clients, they knew it was time for an update, and wanted a clean, modern look for their business. After chatting with them for a bit, we introduced them to our newest project: Front Door Websites.
Candid Carpet’s previous website kind of did the job it was supposed to do: it basically shared contact information and a bit about what they did. At their core, all websites do this. But what most businesses want is something that shares a bit about their personality as a company, something that distinguishes them from “the other guys”. In this case, you can’t help but be drawn to the adorable dog right at the top of the page. And you might wonder for just a split second what a dog has to do with carpet cleaning, until you remember two little words: pet stains. (Guess what Candid Carpet is really good at?)
We started the process by offering a selection of website templates that were readily available for customization. After they chose their favorite, we swapped out the color palette, changed the typography, and gathered a variety of engaging photos that combined to create the finished product. We gave Candid Carpet’s testimonials some valuable space right beside their list of services, and added a separate page for special offers. Finally, we gave the most “real estate” on the front page to a big, inviting call-to-action box. Remember, Candid Carpet’s goal was simple: to get people to pick up the phone and call them. So we made it the first thing that captures your attention.
Is your website doing what you want it to do? Does it accurately reflect the personality of your business or organization? Or do you need to do a little “spring cleaning”?
